Bridges of Unity

The United Methodist Church Foundation (UMC Foundation) Endowment Fund

The United Methodist Church Foundation is seeking gifts from United Methodists who are looking to extend their ministry through supporting the operating expenses of The United Methodist Church Foundation. We invite you to become a partner with Foundation in this exciting venture. Because gifts to the endowment fund are tax deductible, there are a number of planning opportunities by which you can reduce your personal taxes while making your gift go even farther.  There are no minimum or maximum restrictions on the amount of the gift.
You can ensure the continued ministry of The United Methodist Church Foundation in many ways and amounts to help you in the fulfillment of your stewardship commitment.  Now your commitment can live beyond your lifetime and ensure that our values and mission will live far into the future.  Yes, I want to Give to this fund. Find out about the different ways to give through The United Methodist Church Foundation.

The United Methodist Church Foundation exists to serve God by encouraging stewardship as a way of life, and upholding the missions and ministries of The United Methodist Church in the world. The Foundation encourages faithful stewardship by:

  • Managing funds entrusted to it in an effective and socially responsible manner,
  • Educating people in appropriate financial management techniques,
  • Providing investment opportunities for planned giving,
  • Encouraging individuals to be good stewards,
  • Striving for excellence and continuous improvement in its operation,
  • Operating with the highest moral and ethical standards.

In the fulfillment of this mission the Foundation seeks to serve the Church by offering investment opportunities that are socially screened and diversified in ways that an investor may not otherwise be able to achieve. The Foundation also seeks to build the endowment for future ministries at the general and worldwide level of the Church through development and planned giving.

Our Vision & Values

Be an outstanding leader in organized philanthropy throughout the United Methodist Church, and operate efficiently and effectively in all aspects of operations. We will:

  • Be a “teacher of philanthropy” that educates people and organizations and connects them to philanthropic opportunities;
  • Provide donors, grantees and other relevant organizations with quality services (research, development, and administration) that meet their expectations, expand their understanding of community needs and opportunities, and earn the UMC Foundation a widely-recognized reputation for excellence and credibility;
  • Serve as a trusted steward of donors’ charitable intentions;
  • Preserve, manage, and grow financial assets to provide a competitive return that benefits the denomination;
  • Help to identify the denomination’s critical needs and shape initiatives to address them;
  • Initiate efforts to build collaborations and partnerships with other Church philanthropic organizations, nonprofits, the public sector and business;
  • Convene diverse individuals and groups to work together to address a range of denominational needs;
  • Leverage national resources to address the Church’s challenges and opportunities;
  • Create and maintain a challenging, rewarding and high-performing organizational environment where staff, board members, volunteers, and organizational partners are valued and share a deep sense of mission;
  • Bring together and challenge a board of directors, which reflects the diversities of the denomination, to use their resources to guide and contribute to the organization.
